About Us

Biography

Niashay Whitaker is a licensed associate clinical therapist serving King County, Pierce County, and neighboring cities.  After graduating with her B.S in psychology from Eastern Washington University she went on to volunteer with AmeriCorps working with underprivileged youth. While obtaining her MA.ED in Community Counseling, she worked at a partial hospitalization program for eating disorders. Shortly after, she began interning for Kent Youth and Family Services. Following her internship experience Niashay began working as Co-Occurring therapist servicing both mental health and substance abuse clients. Niashay continues to provide therapy for underprivileged communities while exploring her social justice interests. Her love for therapy stems from providing individuals and families to overcome adversity, challenges, and obstacles. Niashay currently resides in South Seattle with her family.

My Approach to Therapy

I believe as a therapist it is my obligation to meet my clients where they are at. Going into therapy can feel risky and scary, knowing this I work to make sure my clients are as comfortable as possible. You as client are the expert of your story and the expert of your experience. Meeting you where you are at for me means allowing you to lead the process. As a therapist I allow my clients time to build a trusting relationship with me.

Just as we all have struggles we all have strengths. My approach is to tap into your strengths and help you figure out how to utilize your strengths to assist with your recovery. Using evidence practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and experiential measure your experience in therapy will be rewarding.
